I recently inherited an old Rowe drink vending machine that I planned to keep in the garage. Mechanics work great but it doesn't cool. Local shops are asking more to repair the compressor than to buy a new garage fridge.
Any repair suggestions, refrigeration swaps or ideas? Its a Rowe 505 running a 1/3 hp air cooled system. Charge is 23 oz r12. low side pressure 35-45 psi and high side 170-210 ( I have the field service manual but don't know refrig systems well)

Well, if they want to repair the compressor...then I would start there.

There has to be someone selling a similar compressor on the internet somewhere...

On tv ,they are usually putting in new compressors. So it probably is the way to go, except if your garage freezes. I heard r22 is better for that.
I'd consider ripping a compressor out of a ugly but functioning fridge.
