vehicle inspection

I moved to Arlington about 6mo ago. I have a 83 fj60 (de-smog, lifted, exhaust etc...). It is due for inspection. I moved from a country county were i did not have to pass emissions. If i had insurance and it ran you pretty much passed.

What should i be expecting here in Tarrant county???

According to TXDot web site (http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/inspection/item_insp.asp) only vehicles between 2-24 years must do any emissions test.

According to TXDot web site (Texas Department of Public Safety - Inspection Criteria for the Annual SAFETY Inspection) only vehicles between 2-24 years must do any emissions test.

Safety inspection only; no emissions testing of any kind. Your 1983 is more than 24 years old, doesn't matter what kind of plates you have or which county you are in.

On the same subject will they (North Dallas area) check for my smog / air pump on a 92 if everything looks good (cats, etc.?)

It passed on my 95. As long as it passes the sniffer, they don't care.
