Just tried to buy a 2017 LX from these guys. They agreed to do the deal remotely and ship the vehicle, we came to a verbal agreement on OTD price, and they requested a $1000 deposit to hold the vehicle. I told them I couldn’t put any money on it until I had the deal in writing, so the salesman and manager promised to send the buyers order and then ghosted me for a day. I’m not kidding, the dude legit let it ring twice and sent me to voicemail.
Dude finally calls me back and says “uhhh we have another customer who offered us $1000 more but I’m still trying to make the deal for you.”
Bro, we already MADE the deal. Suffice it to say I told them where they could stick their LX (which is unfortunate because it was a really nice example with great maintenance history). I have no doubt that their plan was to take my deposit and then try to wear me out for a higher price. I also have no doubt that the “other buyer” doesn’t exist and the car will still be on the market next week.
