Getting ready to do a full tune. I do not know yet if I will even need a valve cover gasket. I have OEM gasket and grommet set for a 1979 2f (fj40) will it fit the 60(dec 1984), I think the 2f valve cover has remained the same since the engine came out, right?

Yes I know that I can take off the one on there and compare...I need to know before I do that so that I can order up the part before I take the rig apart.

In the SOR parts list for each kit they list the same part #s but the price is higher for the older gasket kit? GO figure?

i'VE GOT A DOUBLE POST GOING HERE CAN'T FIND THE DELETE OPTION? IS IT GONE?

I can't speak to interchangability btwn the 40 and 60 versions of the gasket. It's just a fat o-ring kinda thing. No goop or sealer needed. I re-used mine with no problems.

not all 2F valve covers are the same, not sure when the change is, there is a tall version and shorter version, also differences in the cap. screw type versus pushin.

I'm going to go ahead and buy the correct one. I have always cleaned and reused this gasket too. I have not had it off in 4 years (that's less then 20K miles on my rig) So I have forgotten if the damn thing looks like the one I know was purchased when I had the 40. cost is minimal. compared to chasing around 30 miles to the Dealer if I need one after it is apart..

thanks
