I can tell that the turbo setup in my 80 is really overworking my tranny. I put an upgraded VB in my 4Runner and was VERY happy with it. So I'm looking for options for the 80. I've read a little about the extreme VB and another from Aussie land.

Anyone have any opinions / experience? I plan on running it in the dunes on occasion, and tow about 6500 - 7000lbs 2-3 times a year for 1500 miles.

BTW its a '96 so I have the A343F I assume.

Thanks!

You might want to drop 'kirk' a PM.

He bought an extreme VB for his rig.

Thanks! I will do that.

Hehe, I already read every search item I could find, (which was like only 6 of them). That was the Aussie one I was talking about. That one and the Extreme were the only two I could find anything on. I only found that a few people had posted with their personal exerience, and was hoping to get a broader concensus before I shell out $700.

I know better than to post without doing at least a little research. :flipoff2: (Though it is always fun to start a "What lift is better" thread. :D

Lettuce know what you come up with. I have a supercharged 97 and want to upgrade the tranny now.

Advanced Adaptors is the supplier here in the states. You can get one through them for a premium price....

I didn't see on the performance transmissions site valve bodies....only a full tranny....do they provide JUST VB's??

Here is who I was going to go with....http://www.importperformancetrans.com/toyotaauto.shtml

I have 2 parts A343F transmissions in my garage so sending them a valve body and having no down time works for me. Cheaper to, by a long shot.

SWEET, Thanks man. I actually had John over at IPT do the VB in my 4Runner and was VERY happy with the results. I didn't realize they did them for LC trannies as well. The only downside is the down time of your rig while it gets shipped back and forth. But the quality and customer service from John is AWESOME, so its worth the wait.

That is defintely the route I'm going to go.

sooooo.. get that thing installed and let us know what you think....
