First off, this post is not to gauge interest. I am getting ready to sell my 1987 FJ60. Circumstances dictate, and I am not happy about it. I need opinions on what the market value range for the truck is. I have seen prices all over the place, but figure this is a good forum to ask.
Mileage is 164,500-ish. I have owned 3 years(4th owner), and garage kept the whole time. The truck is mechanically sound, have used as a daily driver with no problems. The body is solid, 4 rust spots, and no perforation. Three spots are on roof, and the size of a quarter, one is on the driver door sill, and is the worst on the truck. Previously rear ended, damage was light, repair is about 95% of where it should be. Not sure how long ago, at least 10 years would be my guess. New clutch, rear main seal, oil pan gasket, fuel pump, and pre owned radiator. I paid 4500 for the truck, and the repairs are under 2500. I'd be happy with 5500 or more, but am not sure if she is worth it. To go with the truck, I have a brush guard, and a roof rack, neither in the picture.
Any suggestions? Am I nuts, either too high or low?

I think you are in the ballpark. I bought mine around Christmas
last year, 142K, perfect shape for 6k.

Post it and see what happens. A 87 is desireable if a person wants
to do a 5speed upgrade as it has a split case and the 5 speed bolts up
without alteration.

I agree with Tvaldriz. For that mileage, $5500 is in the ballpark, depending on the condition of the interior, which you didn't mention.

I bought my 86 in 2005 for $5000 with 169K miles. The interior is perfect, it had been garaged its whole life and ran really well. I later found out it had some cheap rust repair done on it, but c'est la vie.

about right. maybe a little higher if you're not in a rush to get rid of it.

$5500 would be great if you can get it, and there it a good chance that you can. Decent cruisers are getting harder to find. Don't expect the members of this board to jump all over it for that price though. Lots of cheapos here. Most of us have experienced how a $5K truck transforms to a $10K truck almost instantly! Fj60s are a poor investment. I would consider the $2500 in repairs as tuition to cruiser ownership. If you have driven it a year or more, that's actually pretty decent transportation/ownership costs when you think about it. Sorry that you need to sell.

Thank you for the input. I should know within a few weeks what I have to do.

I feel like 5500 is too high for a rig with rust. If I were looking at it I don't think I'd be willing to go higher than 4000. I think nice 60's are actually easier to find now than they were 3 or 4 years ago. Longtime owners are finally starting to get rid of them.

Paid $5000 for mine two years ago, Calif. rig, no rust and very good interior.

I guess I am one of the cheapos. Rust kills the deal for me. I bought my 87 for $800 for bumper and sliders and parts. My 1984/5 in good condition cost me $4200 in 2001 and it was a west coast vehicle. I have since put an OME Lift on it, a new head gasket and the water pump that caused it, new slave and mater cylinders, etc. All traditional wear and tear items, for the most part. For $4200 the truck as a little surface rust due to a bad paint job, but no real rust. Roughly the same mileage. Roof rust scares me the most, as the body shape is hard to conform to for repairs. You might get $5500, but you will get a lot of offers for $3K along the way... Be prepared for low offers like this and to be honest they are probably fair offers, in my opinion. Rust free west coast vehicle might be worth $6K, rust drops that quickly...

my $0.02.

yeah dude, I paid $2000 for mine with 179K, lift, 33" bajaclaws, smitty built bumpers, and a completely desmogged motor. The guy even put in the new clutch he had previously bought for it before he decided to sell it.

I just priced them out on Ebay and auto trader and out of 75 FJ60's 50 of them were under 5K.

If I had 3 grand and it had a 5spd I would offer to buy it so I have 1 to drive while mine is under the V8 conversion knife.
