ok as it says the v8 swap is done and i used a set of jet hot coated long tube headers i got off ebay cheap( only reason i used them wanted rams horns) well the stock shaft hit bad. so i took the tubing off hte saft and replaced it with 1 1/8" solid bar stock. clearance is a lot better about an inch now. but i fear it is not enough should i be looking at different headers or is there aother option out there for me. what should the ideal clearance be????

thanks all

For what its worth, i had to use some very close fitting block hugging headers when I did 350 in my old FJ60; however, I did not move the tranny foward at all. I moved the fire wall back with a BFH. I'm not sure you can make long-tube headers work. I do think you can get some rams horn cast manifolds that work very well though. hope that helps.

Very rarely can a set of full length headers designed for a chevy truck or Car fit on a transplanted cruiser.

1 1/8" bar stock DS is gonna be weak..

yeah i am afraid its gonna be kind of weak but the clearance is an even bigger problem i guess its off to get new headers and back to the muffler shop to see if he can modify the new exhaust. anyone need some jet hot coated long tube headers for a sbc maybe a streetrod or something. for cheap or trade for somethig that will work for me. thanks alll
