Hi
I purchased a 98 LX470 recently, it has 210kms on the clock.
The previous owner installed an aftermarket dash mounted coolant temperature gauge to replace the standard gauge next to the speedo (I assume he did this because the original sensor failed).
When warmed up, the aftermarket gauge shows the coolant temperature to be around 95 degrees celsius (the original gauge shows no temp). I purchased a new sensor and installed it. Now the original gauge is working. But.. when I went for a drive the gauge showed the coolant temp to be really high (after 10 mins of driving), at the top of the gauge in the red and above.
I tested the aftermarket temp sensor in boiling water and it reads accurate. So i know the car runs at around 95 degrees celsius and doesn't overheat.
Has anyone had this problem before? The gauge showing the car overheating, even though the engine is running at normal temp.
Any input is much appreciated.
Thanks
