We were talking about making a little overnight trip out of the upcoming work day, to accommodate a side-trip to the new range at Uwharrie, at the Triangle Monthly Meeting. We were thinking of three plans for this little trip:

1. Head up Friday, then camp. Saturday wake up for the workday and get our hands dirty. After the work day, hit the range and burn through some lead, then hit the road home.

2. Head up Saturday morning for the work day (early), then hit the range afterwards. After the range, maybe hit a trail or two and camp, then head home Sunday morning.

3. Head up Saturday morning for the work day (early), then hit the range afterwards. After the range, head home.

Hopefully we can drum up some more interest for the work day this way! I'm not sure I'll be ready for wheeling at that point, but I'd sure like to attend the workday.

Who would be available to make this little trip (even if only the work day itself), and then which option would you prefer?

Thanks everyone!

I'm in.

Option 1 works better for me. I can't stay Sat. night but if option 2 wins I can still come for the workday and range.

Added a third option. I could be persuaded to do #2 :D

We / you can get free camping from Janet while up there . Atleast we used to be able to on the workday. Not in Arrowhead but somewhere up there. Not have to pay a fee is always good. And maybe if someone else thinks its a good idea i can bring up to Debra about maybe a free range pass for anyone that wants to go play after working. Do not get exited as it is just an idea here in my mind still.

Here is the latest from Terry.

Hi Everyone – The Daniel Trail rock work should be all set for June 21st. The rock is in the southeast corner of the Cotton Place Trailhead. Carolina Full Sized Jeep are doing volunteering June 12-14 and they’ll be installing hay bales on Dickey Bell.

If you’re coming up for the June 21st work day please go to HUNT CAMP
.

No Forest Service folks will be meeting with you that day. The project list is to brush back and cut back the overhanging branches and clear the site distance at the trail intersections, at trail and road intersections and to pick up trash at dispersed campsites, at trailheads, and along the trails. Also, please slash in and block illegal trails.

Snappy – If you’re working on the riprap/ rock work on Daniel Trail let me know and let the OHV Volunteers know if they should meet up with you. If anyone comes to volunteer and they need a day pass they can to go Janet’s and sign up with her and get a pass. Please send me an email with your volunteer hours and number of folks that volunteered.

Thanks a lot everyone. I appreciate it. Bye - Terry

So are we doing rock work or brush clearing?

Is anyone else up for this work/range day? C'mon guys!

I'll be there. Trimming brush and branches, picking up trash, and blocking trails = This sounds like an easy one.

Or we might be needed on the rocks.

So it's not "wherever we would like to work", it's wherever we're placed.

I'll be there either way, just making it clear for anyone else wanting to go.

It is as it has always been. You can work wherever you like. I will only ask people to go where needed. If you want to do other wise it has been and will always be fine with me. I go where the most workers are needed.

Yep, I was just going by the project list the email from Terry. I see the part to Snappy now. I'm up for whatever.

Sorry fellas, I'll be out in the OBX with Mike that weekend.

going to try to make it..... no clue if i'm working or not

If I do end up not working... i'll be there but i'll hope that the Forest service can get the show on the road by the specified time.... i'd like to be on the road back to charlotte by 1PM and actually have done something ;)

Got a huge house work list for me to do at my place i'd like to start on saturday afternoon.

I'm trying to talk the wife into heading out to Uhwarrie this weekend if the weather looks like it'll hold.
I was about to post up to see if any ONSC members would be out there, and lo-and-behold, there's a work day.
I'm game to help out and get to meet you all if I can get the wife on board.
Being new to this, what are the logistics for meet up time/place? What tools should I bring along? What is the prefered campsite? Is there a place/position/job that I coudl safely work at with two 6 year olds in tow?

Also looking for trail recomendations for a basically stock 4runner.
Jim
