Has anyone found a use for the blank panel on the center dashboard? The one that's symmetrical to the panel with the hazard and center diff lock switches.

It would be the perfect place to put an iPod, or a cellphone, or even use it as a bin for loose items, considering the dearth of storage compartments in most 100-series rigs.

if you plan on drilling any holes in that plate, i highly suggest you get the LC black plastic plate instead of using the wood one. It would be several hundred dollars to replace the wood one, while only a few bucks in comparison to replace the black panel.

Spress, thanks for the link, i finally figured out what that blank button is on my center dash. The very bottom has those 4 buttons, my 2nd one in on the left has a blank plate over it but when i took it off, it had two LEDs. its that rear hi/lo switch. While the LC has the 2nd one in from left used, the LX has the 3rd in from the left for rear climate control.

I have the rear parking sensor there:

1LoudLX, thanks for the advice! Yeah, I would hate to drill into the wood. I may just fabricate (with wood, a jigsaw, and sandpaper) a piece that I can fit into it, then stain and polish it up real nice and drill through that instead.
BTW, the original panel is polished up so smooth and nice that I was able to affix my GPS mount's suction cup on it once.

I was gonna use the 2nd (blank) button to pass my iPod input through. Silly me, before popping off the blank cover from the front, I got excited and opened it up from the back. I had actually opened the AC controls and saw the circuit boards in all their glory! Thankfully, everything still works after I put it back together.

Hola Dandon! Is that parking sensor included, or is it an aftermarket modification?

I have my Dension iPod cradle mounted there. Lots of room behind it for wires, etc.

Yeah, there's about 4-5 inches of room back there. I was even considering putting a retracting shelf or something, so I can hide my electronic goodies in it when parked.

I always thought it would be a good place for a clinometer and altimeter however I have not found a good one to fit.

moooooo, I'd like to know which manual transmission (code name) they put in your LC100.

hoser, where would i find that? On the VIN plate ? i'll dig out the purchase documents and see if it's on there too.

Edit: ok it's on the plate.

Hi, I think it's an aftermarket mod, but I bought the car second hand in Germany and it was already there.

Thre are lots of them anywhere now. I'm thinkig of installing one in my other car, and just searching for "parking sensor" on Ebay showed dozens of options for less than 60 USD. There are even combined front/ rear sensors for little more.
