A fellow 200 dude is upgrading to Kings and has offered me his BP-51’s (front coilovers, rear shocks no springs) for practically nothing ($800). They have 30k miles on them and are in good shape as far as I can tell. I was going to the 6112/5160 path myself but I’m still waiting on Bilstein to actually produce the parts. Im not looking to do a huge lift, just an inch or so and maybe some 33’s. Would I be dumb to pass on this deal?

You might as well rebuild the BP51s since theyre off and have 30k miles on them so take that cost into consideration.

If what you really want is Bilstein 6112s (which I think is a great plan, mine have 100k miles on them and still feel great) I'd wait.

Also, if you're going to pay $800 for the BP51s, then ~$150-200 per shock to rebuild them, plus buy springs, plus pay to have all of this installed, you're probably losing money messing with the BP51s.

If you wanted BP51s all along, and you can both rebuild the shocks and do your own install, then the BP51s for $800 (or less) might be an ok deal, but that's not what I read.

Also, you could clear 33s on stock suspension, so no hurry on the lift if it's time for tires and you don't want to wait...

I sent my BP-51s in at around 30K miles when ARB was offering to rebuild the shocks for free (I had to pay shipping to them). The catch was that ARB didn't really rebuild them. All they did was inspect and test them and they passed so the conclusion is that the internal seals and other parts were OK. They did replace the mounting bushings which were bad on mine (you need them off the truck to look at them). Overall though bit disappointing as I didn't get a completely refreshed set of shocks. If you have them serviced/rebuilt make sure you understand what they are really going to do. I would hope, if you are paying for the service, they will do what you ask but that cost plus shipping will add up . $800 (you still need new rear springs) seems like a decent price if you self install and don't do the rebuild as I think a new setup would be around $3K. $800 plus your time to get to the point you put on something better may be OK. Overall, I've been happy with my BP-51s but I think there are alternatives out there for the same or less that are equal. When its time, I'm upgrading to Kings or Bilsteins or something.

Yea I think I’ll pass. TBH I’m happy with the stock suspension for now; the dealer replaced all four shocks when I bought the truck so it rides great. I want the Bilsteins but this deal just popped up. Shock Surplus is saying October ETA on the 5112s so I’ll just wait it out.

Bilstein is now caught up with production, and its all in stock.

Finally got my right rear shock last week after 3 month wait

Thanks. Did you end up going aftermarket UCA or stick with the OEM’s?

I went to order and the rear is on backorder until January. Where did you order from? How were the shock welds as I understand they had some issues of snapping.

Would you mind checking with him to see if he can still get the full setup? I've checked many online shops and Slee off-road with no luck. Thank you!
