OK, Cleveland is now looking like the North Pole. So this is my first snow since getting the '01 LC, and I'm wondering:

is there any reason to use the CDL in the snow?

From looking over old posts, it seems that the '00+ with VSC and TRAC will be better off without using the CDL. Just leave it unlocked and let the computers help.

Does anyone disagree with this? Do you use the CDL in a '00+ LC in the snow? We're talking mostly level streets, cleared to snowy to icy, and a couple small hills with maybe a 6% grade.

With VSC and TRAC I would say no reason to lock the CDL in snow.

But I have a 98 without these fine gadgets. Is it a good idea to lock the CDL ? My limited experiance is that I am fine without the CDL locked. In fact with the cruiser I never have trouble getting traction to go forward. Getting traction to slow the beast down is sometimes an issue.

Using a CDL in the snow my cause spinning in the fast corners. But usually you are not racing when the roads are covered with snow. However it might be useful to get traction to drive uphill. I also have a '98 LC100 so I don't have those goodies.
To slow down the beast in the snow use winter tires and disabled ABS. Then it will be something completely different.

Regards
Samo
