I run an iPad Pro for Gaia and unfortunately none of the USB outlets or cigarette outlet will sufficiently charge it. Even when I charge it in house with a USB to USB C it barely charges. I'm looking for an option where I can keep my iPad Pro and Garmin inReach Mini constantly charged in. Here is the socket I'm considering:

Amazon product ASIN B08SQCBC2C
I don't think it's shallow enough to install on the top of the dash so I was considering bottom of center console next to the passenger seat and just running the cables down to it. My questions is... where should I splice into to get the power needed? Am I good using the cig outlet?

That's an awesome bit of info!

But damn that site is terrible and I try to avoid it.

No need to add circuits. If overload were your issue you would be blowing fuses.

What matters is the output wattage & amperage of the adapter. Compare that to the factory Apple stuff.

I use this one. It's solid aluminum, and appears well-made. Feels good in your hand. It charges my iPhone 13 Pro quickly; Amazon product ASIN B099JJCDQ4
That same phone will not charge AT ALL with my older style USB adapter that worked fine on my iPhone 11. Something about USB-C allows better charging, but you need a higher powered adapter for it to work right.

I installed mine in the glovebox where it looks like its supposed to have one. The bonus is that you get to lock your charging item in the glovebox.

:meh: for the few times I actually need to charge something large, like my laptop, i run an extension cord from the 110V socket in the back. How redneck is that??? :meh:

I will probably do rear center console USB ports at some point but leverage all the power from rear that THEOZMAN's 3rd row power tap offers

If it barely charges in the house you might want to look into that as well.

You should be able to safely power a 12V base inverter with a ~500W draw... they are 30AMP circuits so if you combine could probably push to 750W "surge"
