US to give Mali 37 Cruiser pickups

Maybe we could get together, round up a few US administration officials, advisers, "Czars," department hands and other assorted riff-raff and offer to trade them pound for pound for the Cruisers. Maybe even 2 for 1... Surely Mali has need for landfill and breakwater materials. Or fertilizer. I hear bureaucrats are better than cow spat for that. Except for being toxic to all life forms sometimes.

I was wondering if it is part of this consignment of 100 ex US and UN FZJ79 for sale?
The OP says they are diesel but the ad says they are carbed 4.5 1FZ and he has a friend who has a friend whos says they are coming to America:D
I doubt they will leave the African continent
One hundred 2005-2006 Land Cruiser 4.5 Brutus diesel pick-ups? - Expedition Portal Forum

I didn't see anywhere in that thread that the OP or anybody else said they were coming to America. I can probably get you a hundred Cruiser pickups as well FOB Saudi.

Ok so he says it "might happen" and he doesnt actually mention where he is.
Maybe Im jumping to conclusions, but judging by his obvious excitement,he is in the US.
I doubt he is in south africa or australia where you can buy them off the shelf any day

This sounds like it might be a pain in the neck to actually acquire, but on the other hand, it sounds like one of those rare opportunities you always wished you could find out about.

I'm not making this up!
I have a friend who knows a guy who's into the auto import business, He is about to come across over 100 US Military maintained, Land Cruiser "Brutus" Diesels. Most of these are retired UN vehicles. These are 2005 - 2006 model year vehicles.
If you are interested, send me a PM and I'll forward to you the contact info of the guy who knows a guy who might make this all happen :-)

Then it changes direction and a disclaimer comes out:D

All I am doing is passing along the point of contact info. I have not received permission to post his info directly, so for now, am just doing it via PM.
I do not know the legitmacy, or validity of this info, but I do trust the source

His location is listed as SoCal, so yes, he is in the US.

Cool. Do they have 180 liter fuel tanks? Nice to have a 900 mile range, give or take.

The tanks on current 79 series single and dual cab have been scaled back to a single 130 litre tank . The troopy which has the oldest body from the engine bay back, still has the dual tanks.
You can still fit the Long Ranger tanks into the vacant position behind the rear axle on the 79 series
I'm not sure what the SWB 70 series sold in the middle east has.

Its a battle to get a full 90 litres into each tank. Its more like 87-88 litres on the front tank and 85-86 into the rear tank.
If you are lucky you might get 185 litres into them and a 1HZ would go for 1350klms on that depending on how heavily you are loaded.
I think if you raised the RH wheels by 75mm , you might get the full 90 litres in.

It didn't make sense but the article said it carried that much fuel. I guess they mean in jerry cans.

The dealers in each country can, to some extent, decide how they are configured. These SANDF vehicles may have the old tanks. Its unlikely they would carry jerry cans.
