So was this a DOD vehicle? Story I got was that it was sent to MCAGCC in a container and was confiscated and turned over to the DOI for the park.

The others I have seen were sent back to US bases in Japan. There have been at least 2 others on this board that owned ex US military 1990 75 series.

Why would the DOI confiscate vehicles off the DOD?

Good to see it wasnt crushed and now lives an easy life

MCAGCC?DOD?DOI?
Not sure what these stand for
In my 3f i remember 280km on the dash and guage empty then sometimes around roscos k's but that inc always 4x4ing, after i did some motor mods inc race cam the fuel eco seemed to gain about 50km a tank, then the lpg was better eco than fuel its ment to be the other way around

On the last pic,it looks like 7* series centre console on the rear floor or is it a 6* series fridge?

LOL!!
i had an old bushpig with the 2F and the H55F, 33s muds and on a GOOD day it got 6 mpg. but what a hoot to wheel.
<sure i needed to take 4 jerry cans for a weekend of wheeling but i was happy>

Mine had a worn out cam and I couldnt adjust the valves any more

Judging by your avatar is your name Ned by chance?

No its Ross. I was watching a doco about the Kelly gang the other night and felt I needed an avatar change;)

But even in the days when the engine had good Compression ,it never got much over 440klms from a tank with 33 inch BFG.
It was fast though,I hit nearly 150kph once:D I think thats what killed it: (

if i test the top speed ... and get caught ... it is a $10,000 fine, criminal record and impoundment and crushing of the vehicle. 120 is as high as i have had it...

Ontario Canada.
the powers that be decided to curb street racing they would make the fine large enough to keep the semi-sane individuals off the go peddle...
it is working, with me anyway.

But how fast do you have to be going to get punished like that? I mean, crushing your car sounds completely nuts.

I can understand if they catch you street racing, but just for speeding?

Over here in Oz (well Victoria anyway) we have had 'hoon' laws brought in this year. For street racing, speeding
and general hoon behaviour you get your car impounded (3/6 months) and a fine. I think repeat offenders lose
their car and licence, but not sure if that has actually happend to anyone yet. There has been lots of fines and
impoundments.

How are the road fatality stats where you are crushers? Must be bad to warrant extreme measures like that
from the authorities.

There's been two speeding incidences in my state in the last week. One d!ckhead was doing 200kmh in an 80km
zone and another car was clocked at 190kmh by the cops and then a few seconds later slamed into a power
pole and got riped in two. The driver and passanger survied!!!!

I don't think my cruiser would do 200kmh. Had it to 130 - 140kmh a few times. Don't really like pushin
the old girl to hard tho.

i guess it is bad enough to warrant the change in fines but seriously, why do we need to do 50 over in residential areas, on the back roads or minor highways?
now, my feelings are, the major highways shoudl have a much higher speed limit and the fines shoudl be for reckless driving. if everyone is doing 180 then where is the problem? if the speed limit is 110 and everyone is doing 130 (like in Alberta) where is the problem? it is the butthead that is weaving in and out of traffic like it is his own race track that becomes a threat to everyone on the road.

one late night in Alberta i tried out the old HZJ75 turbo with propane and the fuel cranked up. i got it to 190 k/h by the speedo but i was running 35 boots which is roughly 20% out. that works out to roughly 210 k/h. the truck felt completely safe and under control (i used to run muscle cars back in the day) and i strongly suspect it would have done better than that but ... well ... i started thinking "tire blow out" and backed off.

now that i live down here i have very little desire to speed ... let alone excessively.
