looking to get some of my rare vinyl (replacements singles and vinyl/cassette only, alarm early british mix eps, etc) into mp3 format so i can play it in the rig. anyone use a urecord? does it work very good? tia

It seems to me that if you can listen to the records via your turntable and stereo, you can connect the output of the stereo to the input of the computer without the urecord device.

thatone just does lps, i have about three hundred cassettes also, so i'm looking for something that will do both. found the website, it is urecord, by ion

irecord doesn't look like it will transfer cassette/vinyl from my stereo to mp3 format? will it? it does look like it does movies, does that include vhs?

ooohhh, cassettes. You obviously have the cassette / record player with outputs the Ion is alot less $$$. I think you would have to get other cables to use IRecord. But it works for both audio and video. Ion has my vote and Looks quite easy... You can always call Ion and ask too....

You can use the sound recorder Start->All Programs->Accessories->Entertainment->Sound Recorder to record to a .wav file, which will be big, then something like this:

WAV to MP3 Encoder Download - Encode WAV files to MP3 with this multi-featured and intuitive tool

To convert that file to an .mp3. You will get technically saavy before you get it right.
