got a few of us from lowcountry heading that way on friday and saturday....i am going straight to campground....if time will head out to outpost on friday to secure my pass..if not will follow billwright or someone out to meeting spot. just let us know when and where.....

just throwing this out there for your thoughts/opinions, would there be any interest to break into two groups. One for the more difficult stuff where breakage/body damage is a possibility and one for low-key wheeling?

That way those who really want to play on the rocks can do so and anyone not wanting to push their truck or feel uncomfortable can have an option as well?

What say you?

sounds good...i am all for moderate to low wheeling in rocks...no inclination to bust a cv or crease a panel less than a year after purchase. But still would like to do some stuff with some challenge and fun.

yea, i'm not trying to indicate that we are out attempting to break stuff, just saying maybe a group that wants to run the hard lines. I was kind of thinking about running Daniel-rocky mountain loop twice.

oh, i know you weren't.....just some have rigs for the extreme or scar inducing stuff...and others like to keep the scars to the skids and not the body. :D :D :D :D

so, how was it fellas???? Pics??

Its next weekend, are you going to be able to make it.

Yeah that's right, no breaking. Scratches, dents, skrapes and pucker factor aplenty, but no intentions of breaking anything.
And I don't know that 'hard line' is quite the right phrase. I prefer 'interesting'.
I would never intentionally damage a practically new vehicle. You know that, right?

I want to be in your group DP.

Quick question, Last time i went to uwharrie was 06. And i was in my moms 05 grand cherokee. I went around rocky mtn loop, we camped at a spot along it. But my question: Has that trail changed? Cause her jeep was stock, granted i went around big ass rocks and returned home with the front and rear bumpers in the car, but it didnt seem that difficult. I feel like if i was in my 80, it would have been simple.

Am i wrong?

Will, I agree with you in that neither one are really challenging for a patient driver, however it is def. in how you propose to reach the top and the direction in which you go. Daniel has about the same type obstacles as RML, however I think you have more room to play on the lines available on Daniel

Except for the two ledges in the approach part, wouldn't you say?

you talking about this one? :grinpimp:

^^^^You must be feeling bad about that wheels like a girl comment^^^^:flipoff2:

both of you make me mad i dont have lockers....
:)

there is a left and a right line at that very spot. and a line right up the middle if your runnin 44's or portals :D

Come on out Ryan, there will be a group to hop in with, just listen to your spotter.

Looks like I'm gonna be there. Outpost, saturday....9:30am. Anyone wanting to night wheel on Friday? Anyone camping on the trails?

For all you newbies, Uwharrie isn't 'hard' Everything but two ledges on Daniel have reasonable bypasses. Luckily, these two difficult spots allow easy strap and winch use.

Since we're starting at 9:30, I say we stay together till atleast lunch time since there are gonna be a few newbs rolling with....keep the pace slow and plenty of experienced wheelers to help out. After that I'll probably be ready to move a little more quickly and would definitely charge kodak and daniel a few times. I've covered every trail 3 times in one day before, so there should be plenty of time for carnage.
