Why did you need to remove the pilot bearing? Also I didn’t know the bread trick would work with the needle bearing I had in there.

Matt, video was an example of what we did. From what I recall there was a bearing sleeve that had to come out for the tranny to fit/match up but @Trollhole can confirm.

We are looking to finish up this evening, starting at 5:30 pm at Trollhole's

Well? Is it alive?

Great turnout to finish up and I have video of it running right after the first start as it is purring like a kitten (MUD says the video is too large to upload, will keep trying)! Marshall will put it on the lift today and estimates it will take less than an hour to get it back on the road!

Why did all of the smog equipment go back on the motor?
That's really beyond my pay grade but my guess is that Marshall felt that it was easier to switch over the smog stuff than chase down possible rough running rabbits.....his shop, his time, he was the expert, his call!
I was a tool go-fer and learned a lot!

Did you swap the new distributor and plugs in?

I don't recall.....Marshall texted me last evening to say that he had his guys finish everything up for us and it was ready to be picked up! Will look to hear soon from @Montanaconner as to how it is doing! I know he's pumped to get it back on the road. I know he's planning on driving it up to Maryland in a few weeks for his summer job.
We did ask him how often he was going to be checking his oil from now on!!!!
