Upper middle brake light - 06 Civic (help please)

The girlfriend has a 2006 Honda Civic EX. The top middle brake light is out and the dealer wants $187 to replace it. The whole assembly from the dealer is around $80 which I rather not get unless I have to. Anyone know if the middle rear light is a whole assembly or can it be disassembled and the bulbs / LEDs replaced? I don't have an FSM so I was thinking that someone here could help me out rather than searching all night online.

If no one has any answers then i'll just buy the assembly and install it.

It's very confusing on AllData, but it appears that there are two types. One is a bulb accessable from the trunk. the other is an assembly that requires removing the package shelf.

it does not say what it takes to remove the shelf.

That's a start. Any other good places to figure this out. The dealer did not want to help as they want to make easy cash.
