Unless you have access to press the old joint out and the new joint in, this is not really a DIY job. However, you can get a reboot kit for those. Really inexpensive.

There are a couple of threads on here about aftermarket ball joints. I dont have them handy or I would link them. But, a search should bring them up. I know of at least one on lower ball joints in the FAQ.

So chances are at 126k miles the joints are good... just need to reboot?

Jack under the lower control arms to lift the wheels off the ground AT ABOUT NORMAL HEIGHT. Grab the tyre at the top and bottom an rock it. There should be NO movement.
These ball joints seem to last a long time - until the boot splits, then they fail quickly.

Unless there is movement, they are fine, just clean em and reboot em. If the uppers are shot.... might as well upgrade the entire arm if budget allows.

I'd call Onur...aka beno here...at American Toyota in ABQ. He knows what you need...
