I've replaced the door speakers and will be keeping the stock head unit. I'm getting ready to replace the stock amp to get some more power to those new speakers and wondering if anyone has suggestions on particular brand/model that worked well for them.
Thanks!

I'm looking for one that will fit in the stock amp location after the stocker is removed. Anyone know the dimensions of the stock amp?

~ 5 X 7 excluding the bracket (MY 1999).

Good info here. Thanks. I want to upgrade/replace the factory JBL amp in my 2001 LC (w/ nav). I think the JBL has a blown channel or something. If I used an aftermarket amp, such as a JL Audio, is the replacement a straight swap? Some guys at the car stereo store seemed to think the volume knob on the dash would no longer work with (or "talk" to) a new amp. Or is that what a "Clean Sweep" is for? They recommended sourcing a new or refurbished factory JBL amp from Toyota. But, I'm thinking that will be expensive and I could get better quality with an aftermarket option. Thoughts?

Thanks.

I'm not clear on this either. The guys at cartoys said it's not just an easy swap and they would have to bypass the factory amp since it is linked with the navigation somehow. I was quoted 900 including the 5 channel alpine amp. I'm sure the sound would be much improved but am still researching DIY options.
