OK, I'm in the process of installing a new CD/AM/FM radio in my '84 60. Does anyone have a pic of a bracket they have made to mount their new head units. Or how have you all done it? (In dash only please. I don't have a tuffy center console...) I have fabbed up a face-plate ring that fills in the opening where the head unit doesn't. I just am perplexed as to how to mount the head unit sleeve to the under side of the dash. I have checked with crutchfield and all the local guys here and NOBODY makes a mounting kit for a fj60. Help me Obi wan, your my only hope!

Blue 60

Anyone looking for a good condition original AM/FM radio/faceplate for a 60? Original speakers?

I no have a pics .. pero I make my instalation putingout the glove box and accesing from lateral side to the OEM bracket ( very tiny )

I just pulled out a tape deck that came from Crutchfield at least ten years ago. I'm guessing that the mounting kit that's in the truck came from them also. It was just a piece of sheet metal that screwed into the underside of the dashpad, and was bent 90 degrees or so with a cutout for the radio. I bent the tabs of the CD unit sleeve to hold onto this cutout. Don't know if that's how its the right way or not, but it doesn't skip or wiggle around. Hope this helps.

I sold the original AM/FM for $5 + shipping, but there was one on Ebay recently for $100-150.

I bought a mounting kit from best buy for about $15, had hanging brackets you could bend and a trimable black plastic back plate to fill the dash opening around the edges of the radio. Real easy to do.

I just shoved mine CD player in the slot. It seemed to fit snug. It does not rattle or move around at all. If you did not know it you would think that it is connencted to brackets. Just my 2 cents.
