It's been a while since I've posted an update on my 1981 FJ40 project. Had the wheels sand blasted and powder coated. Good cosmetic improvement. Some before and after shots.

I cleaned the underside and sprayed it with Zero Rust while the wheels were off. It's a mess but at least I tried.

Carb is rebuilt but not 100% dialed in. I have more vacuum leaks to track down also but the header took care of a lot of that problem.

Saving up a little more cash and I'll have the seats redone.

And I'm still fighting an electrical gremlin in the rear brake lights.

And six-thousand other things. Continues to be fun.

The winch up front is courtesy of Nolen and Chris.

Hope you didn't pay much for this. Or were told this up front. Mike

I can't deny the turd polishing. I've made mechanical improvements too though. There's a locker in the rear now. Suspension is all new (ugh). New exhaust with the header.

Glad to see the project is coming along Todd..

It looks much better than when you bought it.

it has been quite a journey for you and that truck but I am sure the feeling of acomplishment is getting closer... IF you look at old pix, you certainly can appreciate what I am talking about... as far as the 6000 other things that your chasing, well that's part of the fun in this old trucks...

Saludos my friend

I definitely appreciate everyone's help and advice. Key for a DA like me.

Todd, where is the tub work documented. I did not see it in your "What was I thinking thread" or did I miss it somehow. I am ready to get rid of SHUSH's diamond plate.

Just remember my pics Mike. It was Swiss cheese underneath that's why I put pppo's diamond plate back on.

Great, Glad to see another thread about Shush and Mike! Which one of you two is the big spoon?

Good stuff Todd. Looks great.

I didn't replace the tub. The "less than ideal condition" floorboards, etc. are still in place. Barely. Full tub was out of my price range.

I bought aluminum rear corner panels and side panels from Aqualu. Prepped, riveted, painted.

New steel fenders from Cruiser Corps.

New steel tailgate from CCOT.
