Unknown electrical part (1 Viewer)

Hello! I'm rebuilding my 1992 Toyota Hilux / Pickup 22RE and I stumbled upon this:

Does anyone know what this black part in the middle of the picture is? It's on the left side of the engine bay, next to the air filter and it has a + sign on it. I looked for it in the parts catalogue, but I wasn't able to identify it. Also not sure if the wires next to it (to the right in the picture) are in the right spot.

I had something similar on an 86 4Runner and it was basically a cover over a lug type wire connection. See if it flips open. Looks like it might be the same thing.

I have that thing on my 1990. Pretty sure it is just a junction in the engine bay harness. Mine flips open. Can't remember if I have those grounds on the right. If it is critical, I can go outside and check, but I have to wade through snow to do that.

I started the engine a few hours ago with the wires on the right disconnected and I found out that the thick one is the positive terminal for the alternator. I still don't know what the other wire is for, but for now I've left it connected to ground.
