Unfortunately, I got laid off on monday and am currently looking for a new job. Any of ya'll know of openings in the Greenville area? I'd sure appreciate any leads. Thanks!

That sucks. Work for yourself so you don't ever have to worry about that again. . . until you want to lay yourself off. :)

what kind of work are you looking for?

I would work for myself but I don't pay well.

Ditto concrete...whatcha wanna do?

Well I've got experience in a very few areas... My last job was in land surveying, but that industry is really really slow right now.. Before that i fabricated architectural signs in a sign shop, not really looking forward to getting back into that anytime soon. I wouldn't mind doing stuff relating to construction or remodeling, but I don't really want to be grunt labor... I know that doesn't really help much, but that's where I'm at... I can't really decide what I want to do with my life.

Well...........I'll throw my hat in the ring. I am going through it right now. I am unemployed, looking for a graphic design job. Thank God I have found enough freelance to keep the bills paid and keep money coming in, if I can do anthing let me know. I will keep my ears open for anything for you. Take care.

BMW is hiring some temps this year. Out of the temps they will eventually hire some full-time people. Meanwhile the temps are pretty permanent if they like it and are reliable. I think they get about $12/hr. Permanent full pay is over $25/hr. The temp service is MAU, I think they have offices in Greenville and Spartanburg.
Factory work is not for everybody, and BMW expects to get their money's worth but if you like it and measure up it's a good place to work.
I thought I'd hate it but 12 years later I'm still hangin in.

Hey buddy, I'll keep my eyes and ears open. If we get an opening here at the office I"ll definitely give you a call and put you down as the reference.

Bill, saw that on the news and applied online. I was not able to make it to the job fair thing. Is there anything else I can do to better my chances?

Call and ask. Call MAU.
They are being replaced by a new temp service soon. I don't know if they were bought out or BMW let a new contract. The temps already hired are given paperwork to transfer their contract to the new people. I don't know the new companies name yet.
Try BMW at (864) 989-6000. Persevere.
