what brought this to mind was using tow straps and my mechanix gloves over the weekend. i could put them in the back, but i don't use them much but like to keep them in the car. plus, there's a huge space under the front seats.

even something as simple as a plastic shoe box with some velcro on bottom would probably do the trick.

anyone? bueller? bueller?

Probably smaller than you're looking for--it certainly isn't big enough to hold your tow straps--but I've got one of these Sears boxes for my tools and gloves. It's cheap, sturdy, and holds most of my day-to-day hand tools. It also fits snugly under the driver's seat without bouncing or rattling around. I just slide it under the seat from the side, on top of the jack tools.

I just shove stuff under mine, and it stays put without any restraint. Can't remember if the underseat floor area differs between a 60 and 62, but I suspect it does.

x2 on that...I just put stuff under there. I do have my extinguisher right under the drivers seat but mounted in the front for easy access.

Funny, I was just in Sears yesterday and had this box in my hands and was thinking about the same thing...putting together a little tool kit. I was going to measure the space under the rear seat to see if it'd fit. If it does, I think a couple of them would do the trick.

that's a great idea. oh, and i didn't mean tow straps, rather tie-down straps. but, for stuff like gloves and non-tool items, that should be the perfect size.

another one that just piles stuff in. Those 50ish piece tool kits fit pretty well under drivers seat, w/room for gloves, battery terminal cleaner & a coupla smaller fluids (brake, etc). Passenger side I have tow strap, rope for tieing stuff to the rack/trailer, and spare set of gloves.

Don't forget the rear seat: I keep a buncha less used stuff under there, like jumper cables, x-style tire wrench, small shovel, potty paper and some trash bags.

My Hi-Lift fits perfectly under the rear seat of my 60. So all the crap that used to live there now lives in a Rubbermaid storage box in the back.

Just the heater location. Otherwise the same. There are no clips under my driver's seat because they moved the tools to the rear cargo panel. I keep my extinguisher under my seat and nothing else.
If you need more storage, build drawers or go with Kevin's stuff.

It's actually wedged under there really good, with the hinged front legs of the seat between me and it. If I hit something hard enough to knock it free, I think I'd be hurting in a bunch of other ways than just from the jack hitting me, because it would basically have to take out the whole bottom part of the back seat.

...the RubberMaid box, though, could certainly use some tie-downs.
