You are talking about health care? Correct?

I didn't understand your statement, still don't not trying to be an ass, i am just slow.

But my original query was about the individual mandate that everyone must buy health insurance. You can strip the "healtcare" label off it and focus on the important fact that it sets a precendent for givng the government that ability to tell a private citizent what he/she has to buy. A very scary thought in my mind and wholey unconstitutional, but that doesn't seem to matter to most.

JP, you aren't allowed to use fancy words like "query" when you misspell a word in quotes in the next sentence :P

I think the Obamacare thing was an attempt to mandate healthcare for all in a system that doesn't inherently allow for it. CONUNDRUM!!!

The interesting thing to me is it is almost a cultural mindset in America now. We think we are so free that we shouldn't have to work. We think that we deserve the best healthcare, infrastructure, etc. Then we turn around and refuse to pay for it. Lower taxes, less government. Do you think a private company is going to build a road? Nope. If they did, there would be a toll, and it wouldn't be pretty.

Government is needed, but it is needed in the areas governments belong. Infrastructure, commercial regulation, taxation, healthcare. We just got too far into personal life and we need to step back and realign out government needs with reality.

Yes there is a huge disconnect in the country and lack of comprehension of the basics of cause and effect for most. Perfect example is the average consumer, they want cheap prices for their goods, but in turn express anger that everything is made in China, Tiwain, etc. They won't pay the prices that american made goods currently cost and the average worker won't take less pay thus allowing the cost of american made products to drop in cost. Instead most just blame the manufacturers and fail to realize the market is a reflection of the consumer :meh:

Also agree goverment should be reined in, but I would leave commercial regulation and healthcare out of it as those are not principals the country wasn't founded under

LOL, I am good with ideas and comprehension, but definetly not spelling or grammar for that matter..... I am a big idea guy not details :hillbilly:

on a side note you do realize the brain does not read/process individual letters, rather essentially memorizes the first and last letters, as well as length and letter combination........ thus the root of my mispelling lies early on in my vocabulary development when my brain left out some letters

Another perfect example: Americans are unwilling to work trade jobs. Skilled labor has a huge hole in the US.

Search utube and you will find the testimony of Mike Rowe from dirty jobs before congress on this exact issue....people need to get a freakin life and realize without skilled labor they wouldn't be able to walk down the street, or flush there toilets....granted I work for a supplier for the building industry so I don't do it every day but I can pretty much fix anything I need to in my house....I have lived there for 10 yrs and the only contractor that has come to my house was to put on my roof...you ask some of these tweets that sit behind a desk and they don't know what a hammer is and stick there noses up to those that use one every day cause they think they are better than them...but what do they do the first time the water heater goes out, that's right they call the plumber....some need a reality check

yes but your house also leans to one side, doesn't have running water, and the tile in the sun room smells of dog piss

not to mention you have Marshall on speed dial :flipoff2:

That made my day. The piss tile that is.

Funny my wife yesterday was telling me she hoped nothing broke because we couldn't afford it. I told he we had nothing to worry about because there isn't anything I cannot fix when I put my mind to it. She said we were lucky to have that. A lot of families don't.

Most of my so called skill relies on duct tape.

Nothing wrong with this, minus the stuck up part. Someone has to pay for skilled labor.

I agree Jon, I wasn't bashing the people that need to call a skilled tradesmen, I was bashing the stuck up assholes that think they are better than them.

I still think a CCC type plan would work better. If you can't/won't work but want government subsidy then go to work for them. Earn your keep, get drug tested, or don't get help. Half of our parks were built this way (by people out of work, put to work by the government). We have a large unemployment/welfare issue, we have an infrastructure problem...I think these two things could solve themselves :)

On this we are in complete agreement!!! 2X

Noted on the columbia news tonight that 6 teens from a local school were being interviewed over the tragic killing in Flordia of the boy in a hoodie. One of thes enlitened children(teens) stated that the gunman(area watch CCP holder) who is claming self defense should be made to prove his inocense. Strange I thought we were inocent untill proven guilty : just show's how the current education ststem is politically correct. HOwever far it is from the law of the land.

No problem. I knew what you meant. Its people like me that stimulate the economy with my lack of skilled trades.

i love people with no basic mechanical skills...it's those type of people that fill my shop with outdoor power equipment!

What i really like are the ones that know just enough to be dangerous.

I had one guy bring in his gas powered mower, wasn't much wrong with it other than gas engines don't run on diesel.

Drained his fuel system, gave him his bill and he was upset becaue he would never mistake diesel for gasoline.

2-3 months later he brings it back in because it's doing the same thing again and we didn't repair it right and it never had diesel in it to begin with.

It again had diesel in the fuel tank but this time it was about 25% or less and it would start but would miss/smoke run terribly.

Again i charged him to clean his fuel system, drop the bowl on the carb and blow out all fuel lines, drain fuel tank.

He again denied having any diesel in the fuel system even when the thing smelt like a cummins when you would get it to fire/run.

He finally admited he was not the only one running it, he sometimes let someone else borrow it.

I lost my patience with the guy on the second go around and suggested if he did not want to dump out all his fuel cans at home and start with fresh gas that he had a second option of me swapping in a diesel engine for him.

The Media has long taken this approach guility until proven innocent, not to mention the new Black Panthers has offered a 1 million dollar bounty on the guys head  Nothing like the mob mentality :hillbilly:

A CCC-type program is not the answer. Yes, we have people out of work and Yes, the CCC created a bunch of nice park facilities for us to enjoy but No, we do not need yet another government funded and run program to cure our ills. More government programs, more government intrusion, and more government involvement in our daily lives is not the answer. And to add, where would the government get the money to support such a large program?
