I just installed some front springs on my BJ73.

But I'm not happy with the way the U bolts are sitting.

They don't seem to have as sharp of a 90 degree bend at the top as Toyota had. ( I laid them one over the other) They are not sitting all the way down on the perch due to this. They are about 3/16th from the perch u bolt seat but binding hard at the corners. I d rather not grind the perches.

Has anyone else encountered this?

Maybe I'm overthinking it but the Toyota ones sit so much nicer.

Thanks guys,

it does look off...was the diameter the same? (of the ubolt). IDK it looks seated but too small. sack up and go to the freeway, it will let you know real quick if something isnt working....lol

yep. diameter is nearly identical (same threads too) I didn't take a photo of the Toyota one stacked over this new one. The main difference is the opening width these are slightly narrower (probably only a 1/8th or so) and Toyota ones appear to have had a small amount a machining in the corners.

IDK i think you are prolly good, driving it is the only way to tell. if you get some bad road manners it will tell you if your concerns are real. they may be small issue's but you will feel it and know. a cruiser is heavy and solid any issue's will be noticeable quickly. drive it an find out, irregardless (real word now) bad road manners will present them selves if its off a lot, if its just only a little off you will notice with some flex (off road) that seems clunky off road.

I was looking through pics of U bolts on ebay, some are squared off on the bends, some are slightly rounded.
