Howdy mudders... I'm gonna copy and paste what I've written for CL and other ads in here. Hoping someone on MUD will have an interest in this as I like you guys better than anyone on CL, ebay, etc. Feel free to hit me up with any questions, comments, etc.
Up for sale is my 1965 Chevrolet Impala. I have always sworn I would hold onto this car forever, but I’m making the jump into marriage, and after years of youth ministry and Young Life staff I want to start our new life debt free and as financially stable as possible. Debt sucks, and I want to spoil my future bride with an awesome honeymoon and also provide for our education. So after much thought and prayer, I’m looking to sell her.
It is a four door hardtop, not a sedan, in two tone paint, light blue with a black top. It has a 285hp 327 and 2spd powerglide automatic transmission. It is a one family vehicle and was purchased by my grandmother brand new in 1965. I am the second owner as she willed it to me after she passed away. I have all of the original paperwork from the original purchase, as well as service history from different things she had done to it throughout its life. This car has meant a lot to my family and has a lot of family history. But they all understand my motivation for selling, so we’ll miss her, but she has served us well.
Body: All original. She’s in great shape for being almost 50 years old. Original paint excluding one of the rear fenders that my grandma had repainted at some point in the past, and is in overall good shape. This is definitely a car that looks good driving down the road, but when you get up close you can tell it’s the original paint. But with that said there she is not rusting through or overly worn out. My grandma kept this car in a garage (though the trunk did stick out a few inches, this baby is long) and I have had it in my parents garage since 2002. The only major issue with the vehicle is the trunk. It apparently had a leak in the rubber somewhere, and rust is an issue. The trunk pan needs to be removed and a new one welded in, and if I could weld would have already done it. But since it’s an out of sight issue and I never use the trunk, never got around to it. The seats do have some rips in them and there are a few other dings and signs of wear with the interior, but nothing extensively wrong. The headliner is in great shape with just one small fingernail sized tear.
Mechanical: The engine and transmission have been rebuilt to original specs by a local shop. She runs great, and I have the paperwork to show what all was done and the costs associated. The original drum brakes were also serviced. She is running better now than probably any other time in her life except when brand new. Very low miles since the rebuild. She’s just been a weekend around town vehicle and even then has been driven sparsely. All fluids are good and kept in spec, new battery, everything is working fine. The heater works great, and the all the AC functions work, but she needs coolant, and I haven’t charged up the system yet as it’s an expense I haven’t had need for.
I currently live in McKinney, and the car is still in my parent’s garage in Grand Prairie. Feel free to ask me any questions and I will try to answer them quickly. I can make arrangements to show the car on Monday or Sundays as that is my weekend, otherwise I may be able to have them show the car. I am asking $9,000 for her and she will come with all paperwork and documentation, original keys and keychain, and everything I have for it. I would prefer to correspond through email at first to weed out all the spammers, junk emailers, and tire kickers, so if you are interested please indicate in some way that you are a real person in your email.
