Credit for this goes to @jfz80 in the ONSC. It’s an awesome idea and I’d love to see it take off here.

Thought it would be good for us to have a spot to post our little projects along the way that may not warrant their own thread or discussion but inevitably add to them pride we hold in out rigs. The equivulant to many what did you do with your truck this week/end threads I introduce .....

The Wrenching Thread

Post up your projects. Maybe it's not worth a bump to your build thread or maybe you don't have one. This is the place. Perhaps you added a cigarette lighter outlet. Or maybe it was a wash and wax. It might just be that Someone added one million candlepower or maybe somebody finally started his diesel swap/3fe turbo or maybe I dragged another project home. Post up what ya got.

As a few of you may know I just moved here.
Well well, good idea! You've been in Al such a short time and are already doing good s***
Thanks. I came from ONSC in North Carolina and they have it together. Met some awesome people and confident, I made some life long friendships in my short time. I moved there 5 years ago and didn’t know a soul. I owe more to them than they know. I’ll save the rest of the story for a few drinks in around a campfire. Now to the wrenching.

I started disassembly on a 62 yesterday. The night before it shipped from NC it blew a head gasket.

Today’s wrenching session.

Received my tailgate storage from Huracan Fabrication in Australia. $335 shipped to my door. Fit and finish is spot on. Really happy.

You got your new HG yet? I have a 3fe gasket in the garage new in package from Toyota
I do, But I'm doing this for somebody else. The quick back story is I was asked to find a 62 in March for a promotion vehicle for a local business. Agreed to do it for parts only cost because i wanted to see it saved and Loved anything old revived. It was found in VA and that hadn't run since 2005. Ive spent the last 6 months going through it.

My 60 was stalling embarrassingly frequently on Sunday and in some super poorly timed places as well. I'll blame the crunched qtr panel on that.... So the old Weber came down to its components a couple nights ago, and showed a few plugged/restricted jets thanks to fire extinguisher powder (story for beers, fires, etc). Ran a can of carb cleaner through all the nooks and crannies - fixed her right up.

Speaking of Nooks, I think we're allowed to go there outside of club meetings, yeah? Let's make that happen.

I'll help too, so long as "help" is hanging out and providing poor advice. At least I'll make contributions to the beer fridge.

:slap:...yeah yeah yeah... there's always next time.

Today's project was sealing up the recently rebuilt exhaust. $5 gasket got that annoying ticking sorted. Now to install a tailpipe so I dont fumigate myself in traffic.

It counts. I spot a Relic Run sticker. I was there.

That was a fun weekend, but kind of a long haul from Huntsville. We (and by that I mean @jasonbraswell) had a trailer issue on the way up and it was raining like all get out when I got there...definitely one to remember!

Gotta get that puppy moving for SCC. You'll have all winter to build it up for next year.

Jess's 80 has been in need of O2s for a while (gotta get back to 18 mpg!). Replaced both of the offending units. Not the worst I've seen, but they definitely needed it.
