I think this is an interesting response from Lexus, would have loved to see them do a little more in terms of repacking, but it is certainly interesting

Does this mean we will finally see a cargo area mat that will fit our LC's with third row seats removed?

It is a step forward. Though I'm guessing any cargo area mat will only come with Lexus branding, some sort to deep luxury carpet designed to really hold mud and water, and get priced at about 2x what it should cost. Incidentally, the Lexus website currently list weather proof floor mats for the 2 row, but no weather proof cargo mat.

Wonder what else the 2 row LX will be missing, the Lexus site shows no options or packages available for the 2 row version so I guess features like the cooler box are unavailable.

It is annoying that Toyota North America forces so many weird compromises on buyers of one of their priciest vehicles.

I'd like a LC body style and interior, the LX suspension, no back seat screens, no third row seats, rubber floor and cargo mats, the cooler box center console and power lift up tail gate. Not sure why such a vehicle is impossible to buy.

Add a TRD version with factory flares, up sized mud terrains and a factory winch and I'll cut a check now.

It is improbable due to simple economics. The MAJORITY of buyers predominately purchase the higher end options (think GM Denali). Thus, to ensure maximum profits and availability they choose to ship the most equipped variant to the US. This website probably represents less than .01% of total land cruiser and LX owners. Our needs aren't taken into account since we're proven to just customize anyway.

We can always hope that Toyota USA will listen to the team here at iH8mud and equip the way we like 'em!

I hate that you might have missed this: A number of us ordered mats from Michael Keys <MKeys@sydneycitytoyota.com.au> a couple of months ago. The price was about 220 Aussie dollars including shipping. Part number PZQ20-60420.

Mine is perfect. High quality rubber, fits the cargo area with rear seats removed absolutely perfectly.

We need to see what is available in the US before we arrive at any conclusions. As @CLHickman pointed out, what is available - even for order - in the US has always been essentially maxed out with very little choice in options. I doubt you would lose the cooler box. The fact that they revealed this 2-row version at the LA auto show (in the US) suggests we’ll see that version/option in our market. But lets be clear here. All they did was take something out. This was a very easy thing for them to do. It might have been better for them to engineer easily removable seats. But that would have required more thinking, engineering and cost.

For now, I’m good enough with the 3rd row from my LC removed (and available for reinstall should I ever need it or when I want to sell it.). I have options. But if you order one of these 2-row LXs, you are stuck. You have to choose. One or the other.

Most of local LX are leased

Thus after 27-36 months they will turn it in for a new one

So resale not a concern for leasee

Once upon a time, the LC/LX had easily removable rear seats in the 100-series. They were heavy as *hit, but the mechanism allowed easy removal. The market must have said that we prefer motorized everything in the LX, with auto fold in, fold up, and fold down. So now there's complicated motors and integration, that makes it harder to remove.

I'm more curious how much payload capacity this opens up on the LX. probably in the vicinity of 100lbs.

I’ve forgotten the exact weights, but the two LX 3rd row seats were about the same as the ARB drawers I installed, thinking 130lbs.
