Two post lift

Any recommendations for a two post lift? I was looking at the Atlas/Direct Lift models which are fairly cheap, new and probably good enough for home/amateur use. Otherwise, I have seen a few on Craigslist, e.g., ALM, Rotary, BendPak, that are being sold by local garages. Seem beefier but are used and might be hiding problems like abuse, rust, leaky cylinders, etc. Plus they aren't much cheaper and are a PITA to load and unload. Wondering if anyone has had good/bad experiences.

I just installed the Atlas 9 in my shop 2 weeks ago and it's great. Lifts my Dodge 2500 diesel pickup easily. I got mine from Greg Smith It was $1648 picked up and no tax (Delaware)

Took me a day to install, by the way bolt down one post, connect the cross bar to the second post then drill and bolt down the second post. The directions make it sound like you should bolt down both posts then connect the cross bar.
You need a 12' ceiling. Mine is 11' 11 1/2 " and the bracket that holds the hydraulic hose just touches my ceiling

i have worked at many shops that used either bend pak or rotary.

rotary lifts are much nicer.

the bend packs have really loud safety latches.

dont get one that you have to drive over a guard that houses the hydro hose for the opposite cylinder.
i know the lift im about to tell you about was a bend pak. i dont know if rotary offers the same design. all ones from rotary i have used have the hose above the car.

the lack of maintainece was an issue. this tech (not me) lifted a car, didnt set it on the safteys, in fact his lift was rigged to the saftey never engaged. the hose broke and the car fell off.

we were all un hurt. thank God!

get a rotary.

I have the Atlas PV10 from here
I like it alot and it has had no problems picking up full size ford van.
I also picked mine up Greg Smith .

Thanks for the input. I bought one of the parking lifts from Greg Smith a few years ago and it's been fine although I have barely used it because stuff has been parked on it, naturally.

I was thinking about the Atlas 9. It's a bit of a haul to drive down to DE to pick it up and hoof it back to NEPA (probably save nothing on gas). Main problem I face is that I have ceiling height limitations. Talking with someone about re-jigging the roof.

From reading the Greg Smith site, you can tell that they try to discourage people from buying the lifts with the cross-over on the ground.

I have 2 older 10,000# ones down in my shop I bought used from a old gas station .
They are built like brick s*** houses . only thing I had to do to one of them was replace a hose (got pinched in the move)and have one piston resealed as it was oozing
Im pretty sure that Manitowoc made them for Gilbarco or bought them out

Nope the one I'm looking at is coming out of a Ford Dealership. They have a 4 post chain driven drive on 9,000lbs and drive over two post 7,000lb Gilbarco.

They want $2,500 for both of them. I only want the two post and have no need for the drive on and they will not split them up.

then sell the drive on one for $1800 to 2000

I just bought a 2 post forward....it is 7000# and I couldn't be happier with it. It has the frame of a 10,000#, but the pump needs to be either upgraded or the regulator needs to turned down.
