It would be nice to know everyone's plans on where they want to meet at up at. Right now I'm planning on being at the gas station on Hwy77 and Satillo at 8:00AM (unless some of the Omaha people are wanting later). We can join up there and I will wait around to everyone is accounted for before we head to Kansas. If meeting at Tuttle works for others that's fine too just need to know how many and who to be on the lookout for.

8PM??? On the 12th? Night wheeling? OK, assuming that is a typo and you meant 8AM on the 12th.

My wife and I have an event to attend the evening/night before.

I still haven't had a chance to tear down my power steering. I may have to take it to a shop to have done - frightening. I'm not even sure who I could trust around here to do it right without selling off a major organ to cover the costs.

I'm about 50/50 on whether I can make it.

Grench: Sure it won't be cheap, but I came across this shop in Bennington: http://2menandashop.com. Never used them, but thought I would pass along. Also found this in the mud mechanic listings by state:

Also, I know not in Omaha, but when I lived in Lincoln I used to take my truck to:

George Witt Service
3341 N. 35th St.
Lincoln, NE 68504
(402) 434-6961

They were awesome to work with, and they only work on Toyota, Honda, Acura. They know their stuff. I had dropped my truck off there one time and George himself gave me a lift back to work 84th & O. Thought that was pretty cool.

2 E L O - You would be back home later that night??? Just a thought.

Yeah, she wants to come with, though! Maybe I'll just have to leave her home and go on my own...

I didn't think that :princess: would want to come, but she said something the other day that she would like to tag along.

I think that I might try and get a cheap plywood sleeping platform built in the back for this trip so we can head down the night before. Not 100% yet on that idea.

I broke down and had to take my 80 to the shop today, they are going to do a radiator flush and replace my PHH & FHH. They are going to check my u-joints as well as I have a grrrr when I step on the gas and let off the gas since I put the lift kit on. I have not had the time and thought I should get that done before heading out on this trip.

I talked it over with the lady last night. She can't get out of work but I'll still plan on going solo.

Do all you guys have CBs? I don't think I'll bother doing a permanent install, but I'd like to pick up one of the handhelds to have for this trip. I realize the range won't be as good, but...:meh:

Any recommendations?

I know 0 about CB/hand held radio's.

I knew I wanted one for trails and because they are fun to listen to go up and down the interstate. They are a plus in bad weather as well.

I am still trying to tweek my radio antenna to make sure I am getting/sending signals okay.

One thing I am a little worried about, with all the money I have spent on my LC I have not spent any on recovery gear, my truck has pretty much been a mall cruiser.

Well it appears that we will be out on this trip as I am currently unemployed so no extra funds available.

Oy...this trip is already getting expensive!!

I'm getting rid of the original spare tire...I just ordered a new 285/75-16 DuraTrac to replace it. I'll do the mod to raise it while I'm under there, too...

I'll get the LandTank fan clutch purchased and installed before the trip, too... My stock/original fan clutch is a little tired...

CB -- $75 (done)
Tire -- $249 shipped (done)
Tire M&B -- $15? (not done)
LT fan clutch -- $230 (not done)

Ouch!

Not to scare you too much...
Omaha -> Lincoln -> Tuttle -> Lincoln -> Omaha = 350 miles.
My truck gets @10 mpg = 35 gallons for the road.

I burn about 6gph while wheeling - we'll probably be there around 5 hours +/-.
So - @ 30 gallons for the fun at Tuttle.

With the supercharger I have to burn premium @ $4+/- per gallon.
(35+30)*4 = $260 in fuel for the truck.

I had a local shop replace my power steering pump ($600 w/ labor) and they are now working on the rear locker - so far into a few hundred there too. Those both need to get done though and I haven't had time to do projects lately - so I'm not sure if they really count as trip expenses. Just maintenance that has been put off and came to the front at the same time.

I'm still not 100% sure that I'll be going on this one - it depends on how late I get in from the night before. In the meantime I'll make sure I'm ready to go.

I'm not worried about the fuel...I've always had vehicles that get less than 15 mpg. Outrageous fuel expenses are the norm. :D

I just didn't realize that I was $1000-ish away from being ready to even start the trip!

Grench what was the biggest difference between the two CBs? I see the midland is portable. Any reason you went with the Cobra later on?

Also would going later help you? The boys and I could leave later if that would help.
