If you are using the Innovate wideband, hook up the OBD2 connection and record the datalogs to your laptop and upload the file here. That way we can see exactly where those readings are occurring. Right now seeing a number without any context does us no good. I haven't done it yet on mine, but I also have an LM2 and will be installing an extra O2 sensor bung in my new stainless Y pipe when I build it.

That was @ idle @normal operative temp ( can see dash in the background)

Wife 80 is ODBI despite the year ( Venezuela import) So I dunno if I could connect the wideband

Not the cleanest dyno, the guys definitely had some problems figuring out how to dyno with the auto transmission. I am not sure why, they got a pretty clean dyno from Baktash's truck, they were in a hurry to get to lunch, so I am sure that also had some effect on things, there were not really in the mood to figure out the right way to do it. They manually shifted 1,2,D with the OD button off. I think they shifted 2nd to D to late hence the 3550 starting point. But it is at least something to compare before and after.

Nice to see you finally posted up something, I've been drooling over those pics for months ;). Let me know when you get the aftermarket ECU figured out and are ready to try this on a OBDI with a fresh top end :)

Really depends on the shop Dave. I have seen shops charge; minimum 1hr @ $95/hr, 3 pulls for $75, or even free. You should just call around and find one that you can try out. I would be curious to see if you have less parasitic loss, with a locked center diff and part time conversion. But really you would have to do a pull on a 4 wheel dyno in fulltime 4 wheel and then flip the hubs and lock the center diff and run it again in 2wd.

And I am not sure but I think the reason mine wasn't hitting 5,000rpms was my kickdown cable. I will try and adjust it when I get back in town.

How much does a run on a dyno cost? I have a part time setup, so I don't need a 4WD dyno.

Depends where you go. Most shops charge around $75-150 for 3 baseline runs. If you're dyno'ing for tuning, use any type of dyno. if you're dyno'ing for comparison and baseline make sure to use a Dynojet, it will be the most repeatable results.

If all goes as planned we should have our dyno setup next week. It is a 2WD Dynojet 224x. Feel free to come by here for a baseline run.

Sounds good. I'm always tweaking my injection pump and messing with the fuel pin, but don't have any actual numbers other than my seat of the pants feel.

Going to be really cool to see what a 4bt makes. It would be my pick of an engine for an expedition vehicle. Is yours running a big front mount intercooler? How much boost are you pushing?

I run a stock Cummins water-air after-cooler with dedicated radiator and fan. I cruise around 10 psi, but can boost up to 20-21psi under heavy acceleration.

Driving our new Dynojet back to Texas. Made some very cool new friends along the way.

Excited to see progress on this. More power without the diesel conversion issues. I have a 1994 FJZ80 waiting for a kit assuming all goes well with your progress.

I'm very interested in this, have been interested in a turbo since I bought the LX several years ago. I'm sure the TRD supercharger is a big improvement over stock, but I'm more interested in a turbo. I've been very curious about a diesel swap but it seemed like such a waste to ditch this tough engine. Robbie Antonson baselined it - new HG including machine work, and an early 80 series solid copper radiator - so it's somewhat prepped for boost.

I spent another hour or so this morning surfing the Internet looking for power/economy upgrade options for my 1994 FJZ80.

The turbo approach seems like the most viable. No smog/registration issues like a diesel swap and I can use my stock tranny/running gear. All my existing features, ie. cruise, tach, indicator lights will work without issue or adapters.

I understand that because '94 is not OBD2 I may need a different fuel management system.

I'm really excited about this conversion. Please don't lose momentum, I'm ready for BOOST.

I think this may have gone stale... I have posted three times as well as PMing baktasht and I've not seen any response. I noticed he's now posting about some 80 series tubular headers.

My '94 80 is still chugging along but I'm starting to look for rebuild/repower options. This sounded like a great option but slow/no response greatly concerns me. I don't want to get stuck with serious $$$ invested in a half designed/built kit.

Keeping my fingers crossed for some signs of progress.
