Hello, looking into buying a compressor and doing the painting myself. I see these turbine compressors for painting, do they work better than regular compressors? The biggest thing I have been told is to watch out for water in the compressor and these look like they are supposed to be drier. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Something like this
Campbell Hausfeld HVLP Paint Sprayer - Model HV2500 at Sears.com

That would do a nice job for painting with less chance of water or contamination,

BUT if you don't already have a normal compressor ... I would consider a standard compressor. Cause that one you showed is only good for painting. Which is something I don't do often. But the air compressor I have is used all the time.

I'm no expert but the linked unit is only 2 stage turbine - 3 or 4 stage turbines are recommended for heavy stuff like painting a car. Also while there will be no water in the line, the paint will tend to dry quickly because the air is very hot, so supposedly you need to add more solvent to the paint. Another downside is that you will have a more limited choice of guns - Fuji and Accuspray are about the only high quality guns out there.

Those are the downsides, the good part is that it's very portable and does not need all kinds of filters. From reading I've done, however, these units cannot match traditional air compressors for high end paint jobs.
