Friend just bought an '06 Tundra. It has aftermarket dual exhaust, he wants it quiet again.

Not being into exhaust, I'm not sure, but I think I remember being told that the larger the tips on the exhaust, the louder it is. If removing the tips would have a significant effect, I think that is what he would do.

Aside from that, I figured the best choice is to find someone with a '06 and stock exhaust that wants to trade. Looks like a standard cat-back 1>2 dual exhaust to me.

I've attached a couple pictures, what is the thing in red?

In red circle is your center muffler. The reason truck is loud is MagnaFlow 1 into 2 (3rd pic from top).I have the same thing and like the rumble. The only way is go back to stock.Leave it like it is-loud pipes save lives;)

The muffler looks more like a Flowmaster to me. I just put on a Magnaflow and have the stock one still, have him pm if he wants to work out a deal. (A good deal)

And by decreasing the tip size it will change the note some.

He managed to find an exhaust shop nearby that happened to have just installed a system on another '06 Tundra and still had the stock exhaust. He got it swapped into his truck for a reasonable price.

Thanks for the offer.

Looks like a Magnaflow to me too. I've had a Dynomax, Magnaflow and finally Flowmaster Super 44 on my 60 and it is LOUD. That and the MAF header and no cat.

I've got a Borla cat-back and SLP muffler on the 100.

Personally, I like it loud.

Sorry, I was absolutely no help in replacing the Tundra exhaust. :o
