Hey forum fam,

Long time no issues (knock on wood) so I haven’t posted in a while, however, this week I finally decided to dip my toes into a 2020 tundra. We have had a 200 series for a long time so I am familiar with the platform but I wanted to check in here for some advice. I seemingly found the truck I wanted, it is a few hours from our house so the salesman has been great sending me videos and pictures of the truck. On one of the pictures he sent I noticed the temp gauge slightly over the half way point - on our 200 it always rests at the middle. My plan is to go there on Saturday and bring and Obd2 to see the actual temp, but wanted to check here first to see if this was normal or if something is up? To maybe save myself the trip - honestly everything else checks out with the truck (except for the tpms light in the video and this). Is this normal or a red flag? 🚩

Personally I wouldn't worry too much about that fractional difference, the gauges on our trucks are not that accurate. Given it's at a dealer, probably stationary idling in the summer for a while to get to temperature, I bet the gauge would move right back to the middle the second it started down the road with some radiator air flow.

How long? Sustained 30mph or stop and go?

I don't think there's any way to diagnose it properly at the moment - us from the internet or you remotely. An OBD monitor with live temp data could reveal where it's idling and could determine if it's cooling properly or not. If it recently had a coolant service, it may also need a bleed.
