Has anybody got links to companies offering aftermarket for the 5.7 Tundra's yet? I've noticed that half of the TRD options listed at the dealer aren't even released yet. I went in to order a TRD cold air intake kit; and the service manager told me it won't be released until mid-August. I am getting the TRD exhaust, but not until the intake is on.

No specific info for you on release dates- but I do suggest you talk to Dan at American Toyota (Cruiserdan on this board). He knows just about everything Toyota and his pricing is MUCH better than any of my local dealers. Just mention you're a member here for an ih8mud discount!;)

Just wait for TRD to release the supercharger for the 5.7

I think you have the option of ordering either a one piece or two piece camshaft :grinpimp:

I'm hoping all the issues get resolved on the new tundra...i'd like to pull the trigger on one, but kinda worried about some of the problems with 'em....

TRD is pretty good about getting stuff released on time and I'd second the recommendation on going with CDan...

Other than the 20 camshafts, what other problems have you heard?

some have complained about the harsh ride quality, I tested the TRD and didn't notice the harsh ride on the interstate, but only went for a 6 mile jaunt.

tailgate handle rattles - several people have complained about this on various boards and sure enough, the one I tested had the rattle...

How is Gumby's ride holding up? any complaints (other than the big black marks you leave on the pavement?)

I'll be a nice steak dinner you'll NEVER see that happen. TRD hasn't introduced an S/C for the 4.0 yet, and has discontinued all of the 3.4 and 4.7 chargers..

Picked up my 5.7 double cab 4x4 Tundra on Saturday. Had some concerns about the cam situation, but saw that they will either do a recall or FSB. The recall possibility talks about changing out the whole motor. Don't know which will happen, but they have way too much riding on this rig not to take care of the problem.

Runs great, and got more than 19 miles per gallon on my break in tank (mostly highway). Small bumps (like repetitive joints in the concrete on an interstate) will make you nuts! Fells like the suspension is not compressing or rebounding at all. Don't know what they will do to soften this up, but rides fine on all other conditions.

Could you imagine if they did really replace the whole motor in a recall?. Would love to pick one up cheap for the FJ 62

Another major issue that has been reported is a bad tranny. Here's a quote from a member on a tundra forum, "I noticed a noise and shudder the truck emitted whenever the torque convertor unlocks when accelerating (Example: Holding steady speed @ 45 MPH, slightly accelerating until torque converter unlocks then the truck shudders makes the noise before taking off). It sounded like hitting a small patch of gravel or uneven road. Sometimes it would make the sound for 3-4 seconds, other times only a second or two and it only made the noise when the t/c unlocked while accelerating."

I've only read 3 reports of a bad tranny that needed replacement. This is with the 5.7 6speed auto set-up.

Most people that ride in mine comment how nice the ride is.

Something in the back rattles. I can only hear it when the back window is down. I thought it might be the tailgate. If it's the handle, I'll investigate when I install the back up camera. ;)
