I am having a hard time trying to find an OEM rear DVD player for my 2003 100. Mine crapped out on me and I don't want to completely gut my entire system. Anyone know a part number or where i can pick up a used one.

its the DVD player that is in the back of the truck on the passenger side.....

here it is. not much information on it.

and yes i know i need to vacuum it out.....

oh come on, someone has bound to have this happen to them or knows where i can get one.

I researched the system a bit when I was trying to find a replacement knob for the rear seat volume control (gave up on that). Anyway, as I recall the system components are Pioneer. You might luck out and find a manufacturers part number on the DVD player if you pull it out. Otherwise maybe try the used parts places to see if they'll sell you just that bit.

If you have to gut the system, I'll take a volume knob!

Follow these steps:

1) Pull out old DVD player.

2) Read label with manufacturer's name, model number, etc.

3) Search the internet. Specifically, Ebay.

4) Give up and buy your kids an ipad.

Yes, i just yanked my ceiling mounted unit and sold it. Installed the OEM second row dome light assembly. The kids never watch DVDs anyway. Everything is digital now.

I just had an Audiovax installed, works great, wired it to the front DVD player.

I didn't have an OEM installed. I should have done this immediately when I bought the truck.

My '03 had an issue with the rear DVD unit as well. I bought the truck with a 30 day warranty so even though it wasn't hugely important to me, had them fix it. $1800 later (I saw the invoice from Toyota, but didn't pay a penny myself) it works again.

If the place I bought the truck from had called me with an estimate I'd have suggested they give me half that in cash or just buy me an iPad.

The location of the player can't be accessed easily while driving, especially if you have a bunch of gear loaded in the back. The screen is dated and small. Most of the time my kids give up and look out the window instead of messing with it which is probably better for all involved.

Not to mention the audio cuts in and out all the time. Half the time my kids are listening to static. Then every time I turn off the vehicle the movie starts over again. They've seen the beginning of Beauty and The Beast hundreds of times but I don't think they've ever seen the end of it.

ok, here is what i think I'm gonna do. take the DVD screen out and put OEM overhead light in. Then figure out a way to mount an iPad holder there that can swing down. then find bluetooth headphones.

any ideas?

maybe something like this perhaps

:meh: they shoot the dog at the end...

Are you sure it's the DVD player, what's it doing? I had an issue with my 04 not playing, after checking it out I found the very small plastic button at the top of the flip down screen would stick in when the screen was down. This causes the system to think the screen display is closed and shuts down the player.

I've got the older 03 version, but i will check it out. It's not DOA but acts up and says "no disc". It was giving me a bit of trouble before.

I'm think the iPad holder is the way to go. now i need to find the OEM overhead light
