Bummer, I just checked TracTech’s website and they don’t have a Truetrac model available for the UZJ100. Does anybody know if they really do have one and just haven’t updated their website? That really surprises me that they don’t have this available. Especially since Toyota introduced Traction Control in 2000. Truetrac’s and Traction Control are made for each other. I’ve seen them do amazing things in the LR Disco Series 2.

I was really hoping to put these in my 01 LC. I like these a lot better than true lockers on vehicles with traction control. Truetrac’s are really nice because you get a strong carrier design with a gear driven LSD that doesn’t wear out like a lot of factory LSD’s. Plus you don’t have the downsides that go along with lockers. And the Truetrac’s automatically engage because the Traction control fools them into working when there’s slippage. They are maintenance free (other than gear oil) and they don’t have any wires, airlines, etc. to be damaged or go wrong later. Very elegant and very durable.

I know we're great, but what about calling the company...?

I contacted Torsen with the same question and never heard back from them.

I have a truetrac in my 1st gen 4runner and think the steering feel is different, like a cross between having the front locked (no steering) and open. When driving in 4wd (no center diff) on forest service roads, it sometimes feels like I have little steering and really have to jerk the wheel over to get it to go where I want. Don't know if the Auburn LS diff is any different, but that was the other one I considered.

no

no, they don't make it and probably never will for 100. I wouldn't expect any traction aiding devices to be made by a us company, as the 100 is too uncommon, and even more uncommon to modify.

Yeah, that's what I'm getting from Tractech too. Here's their reply, knowing the axles are not the same, he pretty much answered my question. I checked with Randy's R&P and they confirmed it. Oh well, I guess an ARB is in my future.

I know very little about the Landcrusiers but what really maters is if the
axles changed in 1998 or was it just the body style. I think the axles
remained the same but as I said I don't know much about the Landcrusiers, we
don't have many Toyota models here in Detroit. Contact Mac at Randy's Ring &
Pinion 800-347-1199 they are very good with Toyota's

Jim,
Yes, that's a common characteristic of a Truetrac in the front. The TT makes the vehicle track very straight. If you have enough lift it can actually be a benefit though because it masks the castor problems associated with the lift.
