Hey all. I need to pick up something as a daily driver that'll occasionally see some light offroad duty. I figure an IFS truck is fine.

What is the oldest 4cyl 4x4 5spd reg cab I should look at? I'll probably do only a small lift and 31"s. I want it to be reliable, cheap, and easy to find. ;) Any help?

Thanks

Don't worry about the age if the miles are low and the condition is excellent.

I have seen a number of 22re trucks with low 100,000 miles in the 91-94 years.

Yeah I know about the V6 issues. I wanted a 4cyl anyway.

Thanks for the responses. Also, do these trucks usually go for more than book? I'm finding a few and they all seem to be priced rather high. Like $7K for a 1994 4cyl, 5spd, 4x4, Reg Cab, SB w/ 155k? Edmunds says dealer retail should be half that? Also found a similiar one for $5400 with 123K on it?

The V6 had a head gasket problem and that's it.
I have a 94 4-runner with 225k on the motor and
it still runs strong.
Sounds like the trucks you mentioned were a bit
high priced to me.
Also you will not need a lift to fit 31's even swamper 31's.
Good luck :)

There is still big demand for these things in some parts of the country, good if you selling, not so good if your buying. They hold there value well.

yeah just watch for milage. In 91-94 years you ought to be able to get one for $4K or less. When I was looking I found a good many. I would go anything under say 150K or so But its up to you and if you are like me and its been taken care of and has 200K but price is 2/3 or 1/2 I will go for it.

I never see any 22RE's for sale around hear, I bought my BJ instead and never looked back!!
