Well, it took long enough, but the Baja500 damage repairs have been made and the truck is back together and the test run went fine!

What i did:

-Complete housing swap from NON e-locker housing to Locked e-locker housing
-Installed Brand New OEM e-locker
-All new wheel bearings and seals
-All new knuckle bearings and seals
-Replaced all 12 front studs with new
-Turned rotors
-Replaced pads with 100 series pads
-Repack birfields
-Install all new felts and such

Anyway, this thing is ready to go now!

So...... When is the next outing? :D

Right awn man.. nice job.. looks like a lot of work.

How much does a factory e-locker cost?

There's the adopt a trail thing this weekend.. as for me, i will be wrenching on the rig for a while till i hit the trails.

Congratulations man, very happy to hear the Cruiser is back in action. That is alot of wrenching.

Not giving you grief but I recall reading around here that turning the front rotors will guarantee warping. General concensus seems to be replace new OEM rotors and replace pads only thereafter. Mine are warped with unknown 80 replacement pads (by PO) at the moment and I am just waiting for the pads to wear out so I can do the 100 pads, rotors, birf repack, knuckle rebuild, blah, blah, blah.... Just curious.

Great news Kevin - what Stan said - up to Big Bear with the LA Trail Crew. They've adopted a couple of trails and are going up to meet the ranger and see what it's all about. Not a tuf run, but should be fun. See the Adopt a Trail thread.

C'mon now, think of that statement man! Turning rotors will guarantee warping???? I dont think so, i have been turning rotors on everything from jeeps to cruiser to rx7's to motorcycles and never recall once that that "caused" warping!! Yeah, i take a lot of what i read here on mud with a grain of salt. Some info is good but a majority of it is just either hearsay or regergitated nonsense. Just like the age old statement that keeps getting regergitated: "Drilled and Slotted Rotors are Junk and will crack and break"! Yeah, theyre junk, that is why every top notch sports car manufacture uses them on their $100,000+ sports cars with no problems! People pick and choose info they want to hear and then keep spewing the bad info over and over again, this is part of the reason, you will rarely see me on the 80's area of the mud site anymore, it has pretty much turned into a bunch of folks continuely (sp) spewing info with no knowledge of what they are actually talking about because they heard about a post someone read about something at some point, kinda silly! This site is different though, we are here for another purpose! To actually meet folks that wheel and wrench in our area! :D

Yeah, i will run these and if they do indeed warp, which i dont see happening, i am going to run DBA slotted with the 100 pads.

Dont want to come across as a cranky bitch, but this post is strictly about me being about about finally being able to get out to wheel! :D
Thanks

:) Great News for you!! Mine has been in the shop for two weeks, Dumb Aszz OCTA bus driver hit my front end while I was stopped in a driveway....well ok it might be my fault. At least the front end will look new

Congrats Kevin, happy to hear your truck is back up and running. Sounds like you did quite a bit of wrenching. You must be very happy knowing your front end is now ready for whatever you throw at it. Time to have a few  .

I have always turned my rotors as well and never had a problem, which is why I was skeptical of the above conclusion as well. I also did not word my statement properly. I should have said "I understand the situation to be that the 80 series rotors have a narrow range of acceptable wear and that turning them can put them on the low end and result in warping more easily".

This is, as you stated, based on a few opinions and statements. I asked you because I value your opinion because I know you better (online anyway) than the people outside our area of this site. I don't take everything I read on MUD for gospel. I was just doing my own info gathering to make an informed decision. :D

I didn't mean to intrude on your post with unwanted discussion. For that I appologize.

You cranky bitch. :flipoff2:

I couldn't agree more, it is by far my favorite area as well.

Congratulations again, I am jealous. I wish I had the peace of mind knowing my front axle were that thoroughly gone through. Looking forward to meeting you on the trail.
