How is the bumper handling the weight out that far? I'm getting some movement on my spare when on bumpy slab freeways, curious how your bike mount handles it. This design looks great.Latest project was building a high-clearance swing out mounted bike rack. I used a Thule T2 mounted on a 2x2x1/8” tube I cut and bent. I like this more than my roof mount because I don’t have to take the tire off, it’s much faster to load and unload, and wheeling with it mounted will be much better. Still has to be painted but here are some progress pictures.
In Sedona I loaded the bike up on the roof after a ride and did some exploring. The bike handlebars and grips took some damage from tree branches.

I haven’t tested it on the road or trail yet, but before I welded it up, I sent pictures to Luke at 4x4 labs to ask about it. He said they do it all the time and the spindles can handle 3500lbs. So any movement is likely from the tube slightly twisting. How is the bumper handling the weight out that far? Sorry I never replied to this. I have several hundred miles logged with the bike rack attachment on and off road. It is plenty solid! There is some slight movement, but not enough to be alarming. I’ve even had 2 bikes on it a few times and it was good! How is the bumper handling the weight out that far? I'm going top start with all the preventative maintenance first. I'm at 124k miles right now, so I'll be doing the timing belt + water pump deal soon. Kind of worried about the brake actuator and ABS stuff. Did yours go out?
I know it, been on the hunt for a cruiser for years now.
