Hey All,
I have a 1984, 5 speed, BJ60. Shifting into first and second has become more stiff recently. It becomes much less noticable after 10 minutes of driving and gradually goes away with driving. Also while shifting into second, with the clutch fully engaged, sometimes the shifter "jumps" and slightly grinds as it nears the end of the throw. This resolves when the truck has been driven for more than 5-10 minutes.
Im wondering if anyone had some advice about how to trouble shoot this. Is it an issue with the clutch, or is it a matter of changing out the transmission gear oil (i dont think this has ever been done). Clutch fluid level is good and there aren't any leaks that I know of. The rubber boot that protects the clutch lever mechanism at the transmission case is perforated and may have become corroded.
Since this issue resolves with driving, it is less likely that its a clutch issue and more a lube issue?
Thanks in advance for any advice you may have
Lee
