Hey guys, I need some help with troubleshooting my ABS. My problem at this point is that the ABS indicator light never comes on, so I am following the FSM for a 94’. The instructions are too vague for me so I’m having problems following it. It says to pull out the short pin which I think is the one in the diagnostic port. It then says to ground W at the female end and that’s where I am lost. Anyone have experience with this test?

Along with checking the bulb, have you tested to see if you can feel it working in high range?

I’ve tried to brake hard but haven’t felt the pulsating that I’m use to from other vehicles. I might not have braked hard enough though

How do I go about doing that? Is there a test or do I have to remove the instrument cluster and look on the back?
You wouldn't need to completely remove the cluster, just unscrew it and peek behind. Don't know if it's exactly the same on a 94 as 97, but... a few screws on the lower trim by your legs, then you can pop off the long piece that goes above the steering column and around the ignition, a couple screws to remove the bezel around the cluster, a few screws to get the cluster loose, and you should be able to pull toward you & see around the left side where the bulb is. If it's there, I would pull and inspect it, then swap with one that you know is working & lock the center diff to test.

Did you try braking on loose ground, or only pavement?

Only on pavement. I live in Reno and think we are getting snow soon so I’ll try to lock them up on some snow.

I wasn’t even really interested in the ABS until I fixed my center diff lock issues. I finally got that center to lock and noticed that the ABS light wasn’t coming on at the same time
