(UPDATE 7/31/18 - no voltage drop on start attempt and won’t connect to OBD II, could it still be a starter problem or most likely ECU?)

I can’t get my 2013 to start, now suspect the starter:

HELP! - won’t start VGRS!

I can’t pull the OBD II codes either! :bang:

On a older vehicle with a real key, it’s simple.

I have pulled codes several times when the 2013 would start without problems. I have tried to connect with 2 different OBD II scanners without success.

If the vehicle won’t start, what magic combination of button presses that gets to “on” if the engine won’t turn over.

I have attached a picture of my dash when I tried pulling codes, it “looks” like it’s on.

Also a picture of one of my scanners, it recognizes the vehicle, but can’t pull codes. (UPDATE - it doesn’t recognize the vehicle, it just a showing the info for a previously saved vehicle in the app)

Thanks, will try again when I get home.

Seems like from the images that the reader is physically recognized, the ignition is clearly on, but the ECU might not handshaking. If you have not already, I think I would disconnect all battery power for at least 30 minutes to try to reboot things. Might even uninstall and reinstall the reader program which I presume is in a phone or something. Just curious, does displayed voltage jump when you go from ignition on, foot on brake and push once more to start?

No, it doesn’t.

If I press hard on the brake it will dip slightly for an instant, then stabilizes, but then it doesn’t move at all when I hit start.

If the reboots achieve nothing then I would look for a way to hook up tech stream at a dealer. It will not start because it is not trying to start (no electrical spike) and unlike carburetors you will lose the ECU argument. Of course, I am just guessing. I remain curious about the ultimate outcome.

I left the battery unhooked overnight then tried again. Sadly no change, won’t start and no voltage dip and won’t talk to OBD II reader at all. (Reader has no trouble talking to my 80.). The only reason the screen shows 2013 Land Cruiser is that I had previously typed the VIN into the app (still showed when I hooked up to the 80)

A 10 amp fuse!

The SwitchPro has a fuse tap to the ignition, I rerouted the wire between the fuse box and the SwitchPro and plugged it into the wrong slot. (In my defense I didn’t install the SwitchPro and it was surrounded by 3 blank slots)
