I'm not sure what "closed" means, but I drove it on Monday, 5/14/12, an made some great memories with my kids! Made it 80-90% of the way up traveling north to south. I do remember from years ago there being some gates farther south, but thought that they were only lift and open and replace, but maybe they are locked. There are no gates, nor have ever been that I can remember, on the north end of the trail. (my buddy has a place in sciots tract right there, so I've spent many a day up there shooting and getting wood and fishing, etc...)

Hope that helps some people...

Strawberry trail is closed list. Any trail that goes through a meadow is closed untell April 2013 or untell meadow survey is complete. I have a cabin at strawberry creek tract and I'm missing all the toys go by.

Hey cabin, great to meet ya the other week! (I just got back from Tahoe and thought of swinging by your place but we came down 80)

I saw it on the list before i went up also, and headed up to see how "closed" it was. As you know there is no gate, and I saw no signage.... So... I just stayed to my low impact wheeling/camping/packing philosophy and left no trace ;)... I think a lot of those trails are closed on a temporary basis: I went to the trouble of calling the ranger district for Barrett lake trail and she said it was only closed for a few months, iirc July-ish... I asked about strawberry but she said the south side of 50 is a diff district... So I just let it be and enjoyed it responsibly. :D
