Departing mid-May for a 25 day cross country trip. I will be using a RTT for primary sleeping quarters. Pulling a 6-700lb trailer with propane stoves, fridge, 30 gal of water supply and some other knick knacks.

The goal will be to make/cook as much food as possible to save money.

I'm trying to do some cost estimation and wanted to input on my approach; if im high, or low, and what I've left out.

Obviously, keeping costs down are of high importance.

Cost Estimation:

Fuel: 7000 Miles/ 10 mpg = 700 Gallons x $2.50/gal = $1750.00

Hotels = 4 hotels total @ $75 max = $300 (use family/friends for other nights where real bed is needed)

Food = $2/person – Breakfast, Lunch ($4-5 total)
- Dinner: $6/person
- Daily Cost/ person: $10 MAX
- Total Food/Person: $250 or $750 for all 3 people

MISC: Entertainment, entrance fees, tolls, etc. - $300

Ya forgot the random hooker here and there. That'll really crimp the budget, unless ya budget it in...

:grinpimp:

So when are you coming out this way?

Don't forget bail money Brandon.

Hi All:

You are driving a FZJ8o I'm guessing?

If so, leave the trailer behind. No need on a cross-country, mainly highway-borne trip in North America. If you are using a RTT then you have plenty of room inside of the '80 for "propane stoves," etc. Leave the 30 gallons of water at home (a 5 gallon jug will be fine.)

Whats the route for this trip? If you get up to Seattle stop by for beer & dinner! ;-)

Good luck!

Alan
