First the motor blew up, then the headgasket blew, then it finally succombed to rust.

None of it was the trucks fault, it was the dumbass owners fault.

Yeah 3rd cars to Subarus and a Volvo, hippie.

Jeremy

I didn't repair the headgasket, a mechanic did for $800.

It was doomed for the start with him. He also killed a 93 Toyota pickup in high school, and then an 89 Chevy Blazer that someone was loaning him until he could get another car.

What makes your 60 so terrible on long trips Brock? Suspension, lack of overdrive?

If you SOA it and get an H55 it will drive like a caddy and turn a lot quieter rpm on the freeway.

Jeremy

it is not terrible but over 300 miles the bouncing and not having cruise control hurts my knees from just holding the throttle in same position non-stop....part of it is old age, too many football and martial arts injuries more than anything. I had to get a throttle lock on my motorcycle as anything over about 250-300 miles on it killed my shoulders and wrist from just holding it there...the one or two stops for fuel for 2 minutes is not enough to help. LOL

I drove to Uwharrie on less than a tank of gas from my home running her 60-65mph the whole way non-stop...and even ran air conditioner on way home as it was raining some. It is just leaf springs, heavy spring rates, tires inflated to 40psi for highway driving, no cruise control and my ass getting old...I am 47 after all. LOL

Cruiser control is pretty awesome I had a truck that I drove back and forth to Texas a couple of times without cruise control and over 14 hours it sucks. But I think you could install on if you wanted to on a 60. My 62 rides pretty smooth on the highway and is pretty nice to ride in.

Speaking of old men riding Indians, have you talked to Doc lately? I wonder how close he is to finishing?

Jeremy

he is plugging away....might need to make another trip up be we sure as hell need more people to show than just me and DBENKE next time...or we will never be able to really help him.

if it had the manual throttle lock for PTO accessories I could just pull that out and let it lock the foot pedal in position and go with it...LOL

at least with the new seats I have more leg room so can stretch all the way out...use left leg....and other things and when it gets too bad just stop and get something to drink and eat and walk around.

Like I said, sucks getting old...even if you are a stud like me!:steer::flipoff2:

I have the throttle lock on my FJ62. You have to rember to push it in when you want to stop. It gets pretty exciting if you forget

On Indian docs rig. I could probably help once my house is finshed in late July

I may be able to help to sometime... I need to so that I won't feel bad about getting y'all to help me do the knuckle service on the 4runner and put the diffs in:) I've got the seals now, it's just getting in in. I was hoping to get the 4:88s and detroit in before GSMTR but it's a little late for that... So let me know when I can help!

I talked to Doc yesterday. He's coming down (monday) to get the 62 to take to GSMTR. I'm with Clayton, I like the way my 62 rides. I do wish it had cruise, but with original very soft springs, it is really smooth on the hwy. The white one I drove in the Christmas parade had cruise, so I know they had that option. Come by and drive mine sometime, and see if you agree.

I know the upstate guys with 62's say it is a rough ride, but they are all lifted, also.

I am going s;ightly higher on mine, but I am getting a set of not quite so saggy original springs from ACC and I'm going to add some of my leaves to them.

Mine has stiff shocks and a 2 inch lift and I do have drive shaft vib but over 60 on the highway it is pretty nice.

I need to desmog my fj62 and get rid of the nasty emmission control stuff.

But beside me running the retreads on my fj has anyone else run retreads before

if mine was not my daily driver that i depended on...and needed to pick up and drive to Boone NC or Wash DC as needed for work...it would be different...also if I did not live in a neighborhood that frowned on vehicles just sitting in driveway. LOL

I like the 60...except when I have to open my wallet every other week. LMAO

I knew you would come around Glenn and see the light on the 60/62. You just need to buy one now.

You mean like this?

I picked this up for the 40 for the day when I might actually get to drive it somewhere. It was only $20.

I didn't know you could desmog an EFI 3F. Will the existing ECM prom allow this, or does it have to be reflashed?

I have not really looked into desmoging my 62 but I want to try. I have not had time to look into it fully.

That throttle is what we are talking about.

There are threads out on desmoging a 3fe but they say power gain and overall performance is not that great.

You can't really de smog a fuel injected engine. all the wrong signals will be sent to the computer and the fuel mixture, spark advance, etc will be off. Will probably hurt performance, not help,

What will help, is to advance the initial timing a bit.
