Now that i am a Master Tread Lightly trainer i would like to do some training for our group. I have an idea of how i want to do this but need the BOD / others input also, as you are the person going to be recieving the training.

First thing first. My job is to train the trainer. I can and will train anyone on this but my goal in this is to train the regional reps and then have them train their respective people during the monthly meetings. Cover one thing each meeting so it does not take long at all. My goal is to teach all LC clubs in the SE and then they can teach their people.

What say our folks ?

And incase you like others on here do not know what Tread lightly is about please look here. http://www.treadlightly.org/

You will notice that it is not their intent to shut down anything, but to teach people on what they can do to help keep our trails open for our kids.

I'm all in for it. Can we get a seminar at the barn next weekend?

I will only be able to stay part of the day. Got to go to some 4 course meal for dinner back here at some snazzy place. See if i can make a fool out of myself again .

I'm in for some edumacation.... We could make this a January event. Some training in a really big garage, say in the middle of the state? :) Then work on some vehicles and help them Tread more Lightly?

Can be a plan also.

im up for some education.

tread lightly to me is several things:
staying on marked trails.
pack it in pack it out.
avoid areas where the ground is soft and minimize erosion.

I am sure there is some more to it, but thats what i think about.

I agree with Erics comments. Leave it better then when you left it.

Meatball. In your own words. How about for fishing? What is it for fishing? Like how do you properly hold a fish if you are just doing a release of it?

I am def interested in minimizing the damage I do when off road and learning how to be a responsible steward of the trails to enable them to be accessible years for now.

I am up for training in December or January. I think it is a good idea for those of us with kids to bring them along, and get them familiarized with tread lightly.

Jeremy.

So, getting alot of looks but no comments.

Lets try something to get you involved.

What does Tread Lightly mean to you ? In your words please.

Tread lightly means that you leave a recreational area in a better state than when you arrived. This could mean fixing erosion ( mechanical or water ), picking up trash, putting up guard rails, etc.

With how it pertains to our hobby, it means keeping on designated trails, ensuring that vehicles you bring out into the bush do not leak petrochemicals and doing your best not to tear up the trails that are there.

In addition to the other comments listed above: Use a wide tree strap/saver when winching to avoid harming the tree; When the ground is soft, stay off the skinny pedal so as to avoid spinning the tires.

So. All these answers are good. Now without looking at the website please.

What are the Tread principles ?

I would imagine - pack it in, pack it out. As well as cleaning up other litter trash left by others. Stay on marked trails. Ease on and off the throttle to limit erosion.

Getting warm?

Fishing let the little ones go. Follow all size and limit restrictions. Do throw trash in the water. When handaling a fish becareful not to harm it. Put back in the water asap. Make sure fish swims away and doesnt float off and die.

How about that?

Kinda. But not what i am looking for here. What is the proper way of holding the fish and what do you do with your hands?
